Civil Rights Violations

Our Constitution and Bill of Rights protect us from overzealous governmental officials. Our firm represents individuals wrongfully imprisoned, victims of sexual assault and harassment, and individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by the government. Although these cases can be difficult to win, we pride ourselves on successfully prosecuting these cases, not just against the individuals involved, but the governmental entities that employ them.

Recently, the firm obtained the single largest civil rights settlement ever paid by the City of Austin — $9,000,000 — and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office — $950,000 — for their roles in wrongfully imprisoning an innocent man. In addition to obtaining significant monetary recoveries for our clients, we have also been successful in getting policies changed. In a different case against the City of Austin, the City agreed to settle claims brought by two sexual harassment victims and to shut down the specific program that made the harassment possible.

These are just some of the many examples in which the firm has helped individuals achieve justice. We would welcome the opportunity to put our expertise and experience in the civil rights arena to work for you. If you or a family member has suffered injury because your constitutional rights have been violated, please contact us.
